What is Personal Property?
Personal property is typically a tangible and moveable asset or good that is used by a person or business (e.g. vehicles, equipment, computers, etc). Note that land and real property are not included.
Why are Liens Registered?
Creditors register their interest in goods to stake their claim and to allow other creditors to see that their interest exists. In most cases, creditors are required to register their interest for their claim to be valid
How is priority determined?
For most security interests, priority is determined on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, certain types of liens take may priority over others regardless of when the interest was determined or registered.
